The ladies let them choose between three different hairstyles - a really tight bun with a tiara (which I knew neither girl would chose b/c it looked so tight), a pony tail and braid like Belle (which Addy chose of course) and a pop princess (which Avery chose b/c it had rainbow feathers coming out of the pony tail. Avery loves anything rainbow). Both girls were having fun and enjoying it, until Avery looked down at Addy, who was 4 chairs or so down. When she saw how pretty Addy's was, it was over for her. She was upset b/c she didn't like her hairstyle. She was soooo mad and pouted the rest of the time. She was on the verge of tears. Mark felt sorry for her but I was mad b/c she chose that hairstyle! She was acting like a brat and was not being nice to the lady fixing her hair. I worried that Avery would have a hard time with them pulling her hair so tight, but that wasn't it at all. She wanted Addy's hairdo and made it very clear that she hated hers.
When it was time to go, they gave the girls a bag with their makeup, nail polish and glitter with a princess sash. Addy loved her hair until she saw Avery upset... then it was over for Addy too. Both girls threw fits and pouted about hating their hair. The minute we walked out both girls started crying and tried to take their hair down. We went straight to the room and had a heart to heart with the girls. Every person that saw them on the way to the room told them how beautiful they looked, and saw their horrible expressions that they didn't feel the same. We had to put things in perspective for them. We explained that there are girls on the boat that would LOVE to do what they did, but their parents wouldn't let them for whatever reason (it was NOT CHEAP!!!!). We told them they needed to appreciate what Mommy and Daddy did for them b/c it was a special treat. The talk was pretty lengthy, but it worked. They changed out of their princess dresses and into play clothes. Out of nowhere Avery's mood changed and she was so happy with her hair. She said she never wanted to take hers out and asked if she could keep it in the rest of the cruise. Once Addy saw that Avery was happy, Addy immediately liked her own hair too. Thank the lord! It turned out to be a really good day and the girls were spastic the rest of the day. Everyone stopped us when they saw us and gave compliments to the girls. They ate it all up!
Here's Addy choosing her hairstyle...
Lipstick of course (it was just gloss)...
I thought this picture was so cute - she's teaching Addy how to rub her lipstick together... Addy is copying her....
Starting her hair...
A ponytail with braids. I've never seen Addy all slicked back!
And now for the "Belle" extension...
Oh my...
Oh good, still a work in process...
When Addy gets embarassed she sticks her tongue in her cheek...
Her lady was playing a joke on her and told her she was all finished. Poor Addy thought her hair would really look like that. Look at her face!!!
She's happy now that she realized it wasn't finished!
Ok, this is hilarious...
What in the world??? Addy was so cute though with the shield over her eyes...
All finished! Addy looks happy, although she hasn't seen it yet!
Getting her pixie dust (glitter)....
Showing Addy the final result. The back looked pretty b/c it had braids and different color pieces.
She got a sash and a bag full of goodies...
Now for Avery....
When she picked the pop princess Mark tried to talk her out of it. Avery got really embarassed and didn't understand why he didn't like it. She liked all the rainbow colors of the hair piece. I told Mark, that she liked it, so we need to let her choose the one she likes.
She was LOVING it!
She looked really pretty even as mad as she was.
And now for the rainbow hair piece.
Pretty rainbow extensions...
And rainbow "feathers"...
Man she is way too happy. I kinda felt bad for her but I was upset how rude she was to the lady.
And the finished product. Pop Princess with her wild hair!
Pixie dust. Still not happy...
Faking a smile for me.
Finally seeing the finished product... about to cry...
Threatening her to smile pretty.
Yay, a REAL smile!!!
Smiling for me, although almost in tears wanting to take their hair down.
Real smiles? Nope.
Pouting Avery...
Now Addy isn't happy.
Could they get any more dramatic?
That's just pitiful.
Thankfully the talk worked and they were all smiles the rest of the night. And Avery's hair got crazier and crazier.
