Both girls had their parent teacher conferences today. I was VERY happy when I left. I'm so proud of my two little girls.
Addy is reading alone F instruct and frust G. She needs to be at level A right now.
Avery level L and needs to be on J. She just needs to work on comprehension and needs to be at level M by end of year.
Addy's teacher said she is one of her higher achievers so she gets Addy to help the other kids in class. One boy has a hard time holding his pencil right so she will get Addy to fix his hands for him.
Avery is teacher helper and very well behaved (except for talking to Brandon which she has since said she is going to work on).
Addy is doing very well on writing. She writes 3-4 sentences in the writing center with correct punctuation and capitalization. She knows all of the 100 site words for the year so her teacher is sending home 1st grade site words for her to know. Addy already knows them b/c she looks at Avery's from last year. I showed her Avery's 2nd grade site words and Addy knew all but 2 of the first 9 week words. She didn't know any of the 2nd 9 weeks so I guess that's what we need to work on.
Avery is struggling in Math b/c they changed the curriculum for the entire Katy ISD this year. It is completely different than what she is used to so she's having a harder time with it. She still has a B but she always has very high A's. Most of her mistakes are careless and not thinking before she writes the answers. Or not checking her work and being sloppy. When she takes her time she does it right.
Overall Addy's teacher said she is doing very well and she will continue to challenge Addy since she is ahead of where she needs to be. She said she is VERY sweet, never gets in trouble, never does anything she isn't supposed to and is very kind to her friends. I have never been so proud of Addy. Seems like she's adjusting very well to kindergarten!! Her teacher asked me to give her Addy's cheer and gym schedule b/c she wanted to go watch Addy practice sometime. She wants her students to know she cares about them even outside of school. So nice.
Overall Avery's teachers said she is very sweet, very quiet, never gets in trouble (except talking to Brandon) and is a hard worker. They said she is so cute that it is hard to get onto her about anything. They also said she is very emotional and soft hearted. They told me some really cute stories about Avery in class that just made me want to hug her. Her teacher was saying that she had to have a picture taken of her twin babies in her tummy to make sure everything is ok. Avery raised her hand and assured the class that it was just an ultrasound and it doesn't hurt and it just takes a picture of the babies. She was very serious about it and wanted everyone to know her teacher would be ok. So sweet.
Avery also raised her hand in reading class the other day to tell everyone "When my Daddy tickles my Mommy she pees on herself." Awesome.
