First Gym Meet

The girls did AWESOME for the first ever USAG meet.  The other gyms were really good, so taking all that into account, I was soooooo proud of Avery and Addy.

Here's the summary:

Avery:   Avery's level gets medals for each event.   She went 4th in the lineup which was good b/c she was right in the middle.  She got an 8.6 on beam (8th place medal).  The beam judge was HARD!!!  The highest score on beam for all level 3's was an 8.9!!! She got a 9.35 on vault (15th place)- didn't get a medal but did outstanding on vault.  She tied with one of the best vaulters on the team.  She got a 9.275 on floor (11th place medal), and a 9.4 on bars (4th place medal).  So 4 medals total!!!  Out of her team (only champion girls) she was 2nd all around.  So proud!  She had a really solid meet.

Addy:  Addy's group gets ribbons for each event depending on their score.  Then they get a medal just for competing.  You can look online at her scores and see what she placed on each event since they don't tell you at the meet.  Beam was first and she went 3rd in in the lineup.  She did AWESOME on beam - it's her weakest event.  She got a 9.0!!!!  FIRST PLACE!!!  Then they went to floor and they moved her to first in the lineup.  Her floor was really good but she only got an 8.9.  A couple girls that went after her forgot the routine and just sat there and they got a higher score than Addy.  So I'm not sure what happened.  She got 7th on floor.  Then they went to vault.  Usually, the gymnasts get two vaults and the judges use the highest score.  Well, Addy went first again, only got one vault, and completely missed the spring board.  She's supposed to jump on the spring board, do a straight jump onto the mat.  Finish.  Then do a handstand and land on her back.  Well Addy just kept running to the mat. Stopped, said oops, then did a handstand to her back.  She said she was running so fast she couldn't stop herself.  So she got a 4.0!!! HAHA!  She had a good spirit about it.  She shook it off quick, b/c when they went to bars, she ROCKED.  She got a 9.1 on bars - FIRST PLACE Again!!  Unfortunately vault really hurt her so she got last All Around.  Had she just done the jump, regardless of what it looked like, she would have won the all around too.  But that's ok - she knows she messed up and can laugh about it.  Let's just hope next time they give them two vaults!!!

I didn't get her vault b/c she was first and I had no idea they were going.  I couldn't get to my camera in time and thought they would get two vaults.
